Stuart Pearce cited a lack of doggedness as reason for England’s exit from the Euro Championship. It does make you wonder what difference a Jack Wilshere and Andy Carroll would have made had they been allowed to be selected, given the lack of quality evident in this England side. It remains to be seen if Stuart Pearce will be retained as U21 manager, after another poor tournament showing.
In the papers this morning there have been a mixed bag of stories that include Redknapp hinting that Modric may have been approached a few weeks ago; Villas-Boas closing in on the Chelsea job, while Alex McLeish looks to Birmingham to strengthen his Aston Villa side.
