da stake casino: According to The Express, Real Madrid are preparing a January swoop for Manchester United attacker Juan Mata.
What’s the story?
da winzada777: Mata has started seven Premier League matches for United this season, but the Spaniard was left out of the squad for Sunday’s trip to Chelsea.
The 29-year-old has only managed one goal in 12 appearances for the Red Devils this season, and with his contract expiring next summer, there are huge question marks surrounding the attacker’s future at Old Trafford.
According to The Express, Mata’s situation in Manchester has alerted Real Madrid, who want to boost their squad in January after a difficult start to the 2017-18 campaign.
Indeed, Los Blancos failed to replace the likes of Alvaro Morata and James Rodriguez during the summer, and it is understood that president Florentino Perez will make funds available during the January transfer window.
Mata, who is valued at £27m by transfermarkt.co.uk, spent three years at Real Madrid during his youth, but never represented the first team at the Bernabeu – moving on to Valencia before switching to the Premier League.
Would United sell in January?
There is a reason why so few major deals take place in January, with clubs uncomfortable with selling at the start of the year. Mata is out of contract next summer, however, meaning that he could leave United on a free.
According to The Express, United could be willing to listen to offers at the start of 2018, whilst the player himself is interested in talking to the Spanish champions.
Mata is a favourite with the United fans, but he has been substituted in each of his 11 starts this season, and has found it difficult to make his mark in a wide position.
A move to Real Madrid would also boost Mata’s chances of making the Spain squad for the 2018 World Cup.
It would seem a strange move for United to sell one of their most experienced players at the mid-point of the season, but with no new contract on the table, the deal might make financial sense.
