The 19-year-old made just 13 appearances for his loan side last term in a campaign hampered by injury, although clearly impressed those watching on from west London enough to warrant a new contract.
As is the case with many Chelsea youngsters, the defender has amassed quite the trophy cabinet at youth level with three FA Youth Cups to his name as well as two UEFA Youth League titles.
In a week which has seen a flurry of Blues youngsters leave the club on either a permanent or temporary basis, this will be refreshing news for the Stamford Bridge faithful, who haven’t seen an academy graduate establish themselves in the first team since John Terry, who has now left the club.
