As a result of Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey’s imminent departure from the Emirates after he failed to agree terms on a new deal, a whole host of top European clubs are keeping tabs on the Welshman with a view to signing him on a free.
Consequently, Unai Emery will be on the lookout for a replacement, and has earmarked Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez as a candidate for the role. However, any potential move for the Spaniard should be hijacked by fellow north Londoners Tottenham.
What’s the word, then?
Well, as reported by the BBC, the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter, Juventus and Bayern Munich are interested in the former Cardiff City man. Ramsey’s versatility is a key feature of his game and perhaps the main selling point for the aforementioned clubs, as he can play in holding midfield, attacking midfield, or in the wide areas if needed.
This will be a huge miss for Arsenal when Ramsey leaves at the end of the season, and will be tough to find a replacement for in the current market. Suarez, however, is a similar type of player through the way in which he can slot into many different positions and make an impact in them.
The 24-year-old has made just two substitute appearances from the bench in La Liga for Barcelona this season, and looks likely to leave.
Why should Tottenham get him?
Mauricio Pochettino and Spurs have their own issues in midfield to contend with. Mousa Dembele’s age is catching up with him and he has been hampered by injuries for most of this season; he is nowhere near the colossus that he used to be.

The same can be said of Victor Wanyama, who has made just one Premier League start this season. It would be a truly huge move if Spurs can snatch the out-of-favour Suarez from the jaws of arch-rivals Arsenal, and would be symbolic of the growing power shift in north London between the two clubs.
