According to a recent report from Sky Sports, Rangers are tracking Gillingham striker Tom Eaves with a view to making a move in the January transfer window, and Steven Gerrard would be making an excellent addition to his squad if he brought in the 26-year-old.
What’s the story?
Sky Sports report that Championship clubs Preston and Blackburn are also keen on Eaves, who is currently the top scorer in League One with 13 goals to his name, despite Gillingham sitting in 16th place in the table.
The 6ft 5in target man began his career at Oldham, before moving to Bolton where he went through six loan spells during his six year stint with the club.

After being released by the Trotters, Eaves ended up at Yeovil Town, before joining his current club in 2017, where he has now scored an impressive 31 goals in 72 appearances, making him an ideal target for Gerrard at Rangers.
Building a squad
The Liverpool legend brought in no less than 15 new players as he took over the Glasgow club in the summer, but it would seem that he is still looking to the transfer market to add to his squad.
A striker could be a priority, as Kyle Lafferty has often struggled when replacing the red-hot Alfredo Morelos, as was the case in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Dundee.
Eaves though certainly knows where the back of the net is, and his height would allow Gerrard to utilise a formidible plan B when his side need to be more direct.
So, Rangers fans, would you like to see the club target Eaves in January? Have your say by voting in the poll below.
